This painting was created almost on the winter solstice and the name seemed entirely appropriate for a snow covered winter landscape painting. The yellow sky is definitely a winter sky, and the sun, or is it moon, is just balanced on the ridge of the mountain. Iridescent silver has been used on both the distant hills and the tree trunks, so both sparkle and shine when the light catches them, although this effect is hard to photograph. The overall effect is cold, but beautiful, like the best of winter days.
The painting has been framed in a narrow brushed silver frame, complementing perfectly the silver in the painting itself. 100% of the sales price of this painting will be donated to either Social Bite (a movement to end homelessness) or to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – your choice at checkout.
